I'm wracking my brain for ideas....
Instead of stating the mechanics of the rule i.e. 'Roll the Feat Die and keep the best result' I am considering saying 'A prayer to the Valar* allows one attempt to improve your chances'. Then explain the mechanic and refer to all further situations as a prayer from the Valar.
There could be any similar negative phrase: 'Roll the Feat die twice and take the worst result' could become 'the dark Will of the Enemy reduces your efforts'. I would then call similar situations a Dark Will roll.

Any use? Is this Tolkieny enough?

* or any individual named Valar: e.g Aule for a roll triggered by magic Armour or weapons; Varda for light or jewels etc
