Recently I started a Darkening of Mirkwood campaign that I'm running mostly online (my wife is playing the occasional solo adventure in the same "world" as the regular game) and in an attempt to make keeping track of who is where and how old they are and so on I sat down yesterday to make a spreadsheet on GoogleDocs.
This is the result.
It doesn't have many of the fancy features or slick design I've come to associate with the truly amazing spreadsheets I've borrowed from others in the past, but hopefully others might find it helpful.
If you want to use it you'll need to go to File -> Make a Copy, as I've set the original to view-only.

And, before anyone asks, most of the colored columns have colors that were chosen sort of arbitrarily. I mainly used color to note which cells can safely be typed into (only the white ones, FYI) and people can obviously customize the sheet as they'd like once they have their hands on it.

Annnnd, I have already made some modifications to both the description of how the sheet is set up and a few things I missed when cleaning up.
Re: Darkening of Mirkwood Campaign Spreadsheet
That looks like a very handy resource! I might have to use it for my campaign too, as we're likely to have a fairly broad, rotating cast of characters.

Glad to hear it.
I think I'm going to fiddle with the Retired Characters tab to make that a bit easier (especially as it doesn't need to track as many things).

Ok, that should be the last fiddling for a while. Now there's a Retired Character tab that will help keep a record of who old characters were and auto-total the Heroic Heritage. Making the sheet more friendly to PC turn-over also pointed out a weakness in having the character names auto-populate to the Tale of Years and Year End tabs, as it would insert the new PC's name into the old slots, so the character name cells on those two tabs have to be entered manually now.

Re: Darkening of Mirkwood Campaign Spreadsheet
Not the reason I'd want to have the thread bumped, but just noticed that the XP and AP rows on the main Companions tab were a bit mixed up: they should refer to a named cell that starts PC1 then 2 then 3 so on down the list, but for some reason went PC3 then 1 then 2 then 4 then 5. So the character in the first slot was displaying the third character's remaining XP instead of their own, for example.
I've changed this on the sheet, but if anyone is already using the spreadsheet all it takes it editing the cell so that it reads =PC#XPU or =PC#APU where the # is the order of the character entries.
So the first character's cells should read =PC1XPU and =PC1APU, while the second's will read =PC2XPU and =PC2APU, etc.
Really sorry I missed that one.

I will bump!
No, I finally started using this in earnest and it's super handy. Much more useful than my scatterbrain notes across 2+ documents per session.
I added a column on Tale of Years for 'off camera' goings on and a field for character goals. Other than that everything is spot on!
