No, the other way round: gandalf made that hobbit his patron and his home his Sanctuary.
Bilbo never had enough pipe-weed for that wizard PC. And he always wondered what house-ruled background or calling he came from.

One of my fellowships is all-barding.
Since I was planning a long term campaign (DoM), I allowed some virtues/rewards from other cultures, so to have more variety among characters once developed.
