Usually, though, Aragorn ends up a GM PC and thus has sufficient hax to autowin anything he fights.

Well our Aragorn is (was) only 20 years old. No hax here.

Alright Rocco, I'm going to need you to turn to page XX in the magic rules supplement. Get out your secret decoder ring and examine closely the artwork at the top. There, you will find that magic users have the ability to cast Raise Dead at least once a day.

That should take care of the problem, I think.

Fortunately, I have deduced that Arwen is played by Victoria Principal(?) in this setting. She will simply wake up in the morning and Aragorn will step out of the shower revealing that the whole adventure has just been a very bad dream brought on by eating too much cheese before bed.

Though, you probably have to be of a certain age group to get the reference.

...Congrats, PCs! By letting Aragorn die...without an heir...the line of Elendil is broken, and nevermore shall a king sit on the throne of Gondor. Without him, Sauron wins the war of the Ring, regains the One Ring, and the land is covered in everlasting darkness.

Good job, guys. Good job.

Have some imagination!

By the combined tools of imperfect history, assumptions, and the lack of DNA identification....well let's just say that anything is possible.
