Re: The Viglundings - ideas wanted
My approach of Viglund :
1. Viglund get some Hillmen of Gundabad's blood : he is abble to travel as a spirit-warg.
2. When the Werewolf of Mirkwood woke up in the mountains of the forest, another werewolf spirit woke up in Gundabad's valley.
3. This second spirit possess the first warg who cross is road : it was Viglund who were spiritual-travelling...
4. Since this time, Viglund's possessed by the werewolf (see Campaign of Mirkwood page 106).
In this way, Viglund become a great opponent even for Beorn...
I hope I were clear enought in english :S

Interesting ideas.
In my games, Viglund uses the device of the boar, and is known by some as The Boar (much like some folks in my games call Beorn The Bear or the Bear-lord). I've never decided exactly how "true" that particular notion is, although I certain have Viglund and Beorn be of similar stature (they're both from the Mountains and both mighty men with more power than they might first seem to possess).
