Hi!
I'm writing an adventure where the players will be Hobbits leaving the Shire in Bilbo's footsteps. The plan is for them to travel from the Shire to the Trollshaws and back. I want history to be an important part of the adventure, the feeling that bigger things once took place where they now stand. Since the Shire lies in what was once the realm of Arthedain, I'm looking for inspiration on what kind of ruins the hobbits might pass and/or take refuge in on their way to the Trollshaws? What's left and what purpose did it once serve? Are there still old statues left and who/what do they depict? Elendil, Arvedui, some kind of battle against Angmar? Any ideas are welcome!
(To be clear, most Hobbits would know nothing of what once was. But my players know their Middle-Earth-lore Very well and I want to give them small details to flesh out the scenery.)
Arnorian Ruins
Re: Arnorian Ruins
Welcome to the forum, Widundret.
I don't know much off the top of my head, but one thing I'd recommend is taking a look at some other sources. The Atlas of Middle-earth is a great resource (as it goes back to the First and Second Age, with great, detailed maps), and you can find a lot at the Tolkien Gateway that can help fill in some details or give you inspiration.
Best of luck with your endeavor!

Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

Re: Arnorian Ruins
If you haven't heard, Ruins of the North was just made available for pre-order here. The book contains 6 adventures in eastern Eriador, where various ruins, even in the Trollshaws, are described. It should serve as great inspiration for you. If you pre-order it from Cubicle7, you'll get a free PDF copy! You can also go to RGPNow or DriveThru RPG to order it.
