Rules Reference - looking for feedback

Post by Koralas » Mon Mar 09, 2015 12:23 am

I am going to be starting a new TOR campaign, and wanted to put together a quick rules reference for the players. Two reasons, to work through the rules myself one more time, and since all of the players are new to the game, to give them something to read through more quickly, and get started with the game and have a more concise reference material.

I am looking for feedback, mostly to make sure I have things right, and to see if anything should be changed or added. The document is in two columns and is 10.5 pages. I am thinking I will add more on the Fellowship Phase to the end, but wanted to get feedback as quickly as I can.

Thanks in advance, and don't worry about being critical, all feedback is appreciated.

The section on Gear seems to imply that Travelling Gear is added to your starting Encumbrance, instead of impacting the amount of Fatigue you receive.

Only Helms give you back 3 Endurance for being removed, Caps do not.

Under Miserable, it may be worth clarifying that all temporary Shadow points are removed after the Bout of Madness.

Preliminary Roll, not Role (also, I might note the use of American spellings... which might be intentional, but is a bit odd, since the rules and the character sheets will use the British spellings).

It might worth noting in your Combat section that most Wounded Adversaries are immediately out of the fight.

A good effort, and it looks like it might be very helpful for getting a game up off the ground without some much flipping through the rulebook.

As, is traditional for me, I do encourage you to check out my sig, especially my Introductory Adventure (specifically designed to teach the rules in order) and my character sheet (designed to break out a few things that might trip up new players).
Jacob Rodgers, occasional nitwit.

This space intentionally blank.

Thanks Zed!

I rearranged the the Gear section to make that more clear. And have noted that it is just the Helm that reduces Fatigue. Thought I had added the bit about removing Shadow Points, see this and the misspelling for Role in the combat section is why I want to make sure I had someone review. As for the American spelling, force of habit I guess...

I did also note that most Wounded adversaries will be Unconscious, Dying, or even possibly slain outright.

EDIT: I haven't updated the download, I will probably do that tonight. More likely that I will put in some basic notes on the Fellowship Phase, at the very least, on Character Development.
