Well honestly we finished Tales From Wilderland (plus The Marsh Bell and Words of the Wise) a fair few months before DoM was released so I think we just started with the conceit that we moved back a year or so.
I did find that towards the end of the campaign I had to move a few years around in line with character actions but it was fine.

We played Tales before DoM as well, but we skipped The Marsh Bell, Of Leaves, and Those Who Tarry. That carried us from 2946 to early 2948 (playing two adventures per year, basically). Starting DoM, I've skipped 2947 and started in 2948. I've made the actions of 2947 be historical stuff that the heroes didn't get involved with, meaning things turned out a little differently.bigsteveuk wrote:Did you find it flowed ok, as I know a lot of people have integrated them into a single campaign?Steve we ran Tales before DoM was released. I forget the exact order but we ran the Marsh Bell and Words of the Wise fairly early in that campaign. I then ran DoM afterwards.
Did you need to change any of the dates or details in DoM?

I skipped the adventures from 2947-2949 in my campaign due to the fact we were playing through Tales during those years. The first two still occurred, but without PC involvement. I might run "The Questing Beasts" at a later time, though.
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
Re: The Darkening of Mirkwood was amazing!
I think "The Wizard's Man" mixes great with "Words of the Wise". And also, if the PCs get to influence Thranduil in Words of the Wise, that can be a reason why he invites them to his next hunting in "The Questing Beast".
If they do well in both adventures, then Thranduil might have a reason to rely on the PCs to escort Irimë through human lands in "Those Who Tarry No Longer".
That's how I'm playing it in my campaign, because otherwise I found strange that some non-elves heroes could be asked to take part in a "sacred" hunt and in escorting one of the last Noldo out of Middle-Earth.

That makes a lot of sense, Falenthal.
In my case, I didn't have Darkening yet when I ran those early years.
