My kids are 14, 13, and 11. We've got a wide range of play. We've done superheroes, fantasy, and now about to dive into some Cthulhu Britannica for a time. Which works out for me as I've been playing Call of Cthulhu for 20 years so I can easily run them through that while I read The One Ring rulebook in preparation for that game.

The Princes' Kingdom (http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/12/12593.phtml) is another good example of a kid-focused RPG (link goes to rpg.net review). I think it's available as a PDF.
