You'd think with The Hobbit films there'd be a similar push from Middle-earth Enterprises, but perhaps their dealings with the Tolkien Estate are slowing things up.
European FG2 RPG
Using Ultimate Fantasy Grounds - that means anyone can play.

Here in the states, today was listed as the release date for Heart of the Wild...no updates, no availability anywhere. I take it that means it has been delayed. Any chance we might know when it will really be released?

That date came from Amazon.com, right? Yeah, that was probably furnished by an unofficial source. The other upcoming release, The Darkening of Mirkwood, is actually supposed to come out first (and don't expect the Amazon release date for that to be correct, either).

I just celebrated my 16th wedding anniversary - that's pretty significant (I know my wife thinks so at least).

No, Heart of the Wild will be out first. Darkening of Mirkwood comes after it.

(As soon as we can give firm dates, we will. We're not being deliberately secretive - it's just that there's a whole chain of approvals and signoffs on every step of the production process for The One Ring.)

Thanks for the correction. I was going by the order they were listed on the Release Schedule page (http://www.cubicle7.co.uk/our-games/the ... dule-2013/).

However, while I say "official" I have no beef with groups that wish to add these elements to their group for use - if that's the flavor you're after. Fan created material still makes up a good portion of any RPG and this trend should continue.
I think that we will get "officially supported" Noldor player characters whether you want them or not:
Rivendell (title TBC) - core supplement introducing 'unique' cultures: Rangers of the North and Rivendell Elves. Includes material on The Last Homely House, the surrounding areas, magical artefacts, and more!
I take this to mean that both Rivendell Elves and the Rangers of the North will be available as player characters. Whether Rivendell Elves need also be Noldor may be another issue, although most of the Elves of Rivendell are said to have been Eldar.

All Noldor are Eldar. While it's possible, I have trouble imagining that any Elf in Rivendell was an Avari. I would think almost all Rivendell elves (by the late Third Age anyways) would have been either Noldor or Sindar.

I would be just as happy not to see Noldor (or Vanyar) as options for PC's but, if they are, I hope they don't dominate the way that elves did in Decipher's OOP LotR rpg attempt. At this point in the timeline, it would seem odd (at best) to have Noldor characters running around; there aren't many and they tend not to stray far from their havens. Playing a Hobbit in a group of Glorfindels isn't going to be entertaining for most groups.

All Noldor are Eldar, but not all Eldar are Noldor. The Sindar elves are also counted as Eldar (as are the Vanyar, but they never returned to Middle-earth and would truly be out-of-bounds as player characters). I suppose that some remnent of the Nandor might also be represented at Rivendell, if such still existed. I don't know specifically about Avari among Elrond's folk, but that also seems possible.

I do agree that Loremasters should keep Eldar characters from dominating a group, but that doesn't mean that they need to be excluded.

Agreed on all counts.
