Horse-lords of Rohan Preview - Cover!

Post by Andrew » Fri Apr 17, 2015 2:11 pm

Those of you lucky enough to be at the GAMA Trade Show, eagle-eyed internet super sleuths and uber-fans on our forums might have already seen the cover image for our next supplement for The One Ring Roleplaying Game: Horse-lords of Rohan.

But, for everybody else, we thought we’d show it in all its glory today!

At the GAMA Trade Show we revealed a little more about our future plans for The One Ring Roleplaying Game, as well as showed off (in miniature) three forthcoming covers by Jon Hodgson. Of course, most of you couldn’t make it to Vegas, so today we’re proud to show off one of those covers. Horse-lords of Rohan is our next setting supplement for The One Ring, taking your campaign south into the Riddermark.

About Horse-lords of Rohan

South along the Anduin, beyond the southernmost tips of the Misty Mountains, lies the land of Rohan. It is here that the Rohirrim dwell, proud warriors and riders who are defenders of the Free Peoples against the threats that roam these lands.

This supplement details the Rohirrim, including their history and lands, as well as providing rules for new cultures including the Riders of Rohan and for handling riding, horse-breeding and mounted combat. As well as the lands of Rohan, this supplement also details the Forest of Fangorn, including the Ents and Huorns that dwell there, and the Tower of Isengard and the machinations of the White Wizard, Saruman. It is an indispensable resource for Loremasters looking to take their game into a whole new region.

The pre-order for Horse-lords of Rohan is coming – keep an eye on the website for more information as it draws near.

There's a lot of pukelmen on that cover. Just sayin'

Dunlendings? Ents as PCs? Two cultures, one for the Westmark and one for the Eastmark? Woses?
Jacob Rodgers, occasional nitwit.

This space intentionally blank.

Absolutely gorgeous as usual Jon, you spoil us! Pukel! Pukel!
Loving all the book details too, can't wait for the release.

And...

I have to say, I love Jon's ability to blend stuff from our past and also of interest to Tolkien, that white horse on the flag possibly inspired a little by the White Horse of Uffington?

Which if you know your Tolkien biography is near Oxford and was definitely a place Tolkien would know about and have visited since in his biography it mentions picnics at a place just a mile away from there - the long barrow known as Wayland's Smithy - http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/white-horse-hill/#1

Two places I will visit when I can, possibly this year!

I really want this! I am so excited! The Rohirrim are perhaps my favourite culture on Tolkien's works.
“War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.” ~ Faramir

The flag does look like the White Horse!
I cannot help but think of Chesterton's epic poem, "The Ballad of the White Horse"...that should put you in the right mood for a game set in Rohan (instead of King Alfred and the ancient English against the Vikings, you have an King of Rohan and the Dunlendings).
