Darkening of Mirkwood podcasted sessions

Post by doctheweasel » Wed Apr 22, 2015 8:23 pm

Our group regularly records our sessions for a podcast, and started up Darkening of Mirkwood.

We have posted the first two episodes with the third coming next week.

Thanks for that!
I've just listened to part 1& 2 of the actual adventure while painting some miniatures.
I enjoyed listening & look forward to further episodes :)

Hi Doc,

I like the way you have set up the Folk moot adventure, to get the players interested in uniting the woodsmen. When I played it my players had no reason to support Mogdred and were suspicious of Ceawin, so both were rejected in the end.
I enjoyed listening to the podcast, so please update when you have more :)

Cheers

Great stuff, and it's a lot of fun to listen to, Doc!

You do a great job as a Loremaster, and clearly know your stuff. I like how you remind them of things like Advancement Points, point out how they could use Hope, etc.

I have to admit I found it a bit jarring to keep hearing "The Mirkwood", as I've never heard it referred to like that before.

Re: the ruling that came up about an hour in: When player's spend Hope it counts as a success, just as if they'd rolled that originally, so they definitely still qualify for an Advancement Point.

Sounds like your group is having fun, so that's the most important thing. Well done! :)
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

Well obviously I don't know it as well as I should. It's especially bad since I get on people's cases for calling highways "the" somthing (the 5, the 210, etc.). I'll see if I can start breaking myself of the habit.

We decided a bit back that you can get the Advancement Point even when spending Hope to succeed. That should have been my first instinct, though, since it encourages more Hope use. My players have done enough in this game to be really spendthrift with Hope.

We posted part 3, and in that one the Viglund storyline inadvertently became a really big deal. It's cool from my perspective because the players end up responsible for something I was going to have happen anyway.
