I read that thread and agree, a starter kit would be great. I still think it will take players who enjoy the game to promote it.Your experience speaks to the potential utility of a starter and/or kids boxed set version, as Zedturtle suggested in another thread.

The Lone Wolf beginner box is the first of potentially several beginner boxed sets. Keep an eye on the...etc

Though it's a small thing (and really only targeting people who presumably are already familiar with RPGs), one good thing we can do it to continue to discuss thing on this thread on rpg.net. That serves to keep the topic fresh (and on the front page) and show prospective players/GMs that the game is popular, at least with those of us that are fans.
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
Re: [Lets try this again] Help at rpg.net
I've already made two one-shot for gamers who didn't know the game. Some of them had heard about it, other directly asked "Is this the old MERP?".
One of the games was at a small local convention (the only one we have at our region, where having 3 gaming tables is considered a success. I managed to get 6 players, so extraordinary success!!) and another one at the local game store.
All players got really interested in the game, and I can say for sure that 3 of them bought the game afterwards.
This kind of things require some disposition from the LM, but with the pregens from the core book and a single adventure (Marsh-bell, Of Leaves and stewed, Theft of the Moon,...) they can be done without that much effort.
We just need the will to do it.

Going to resurrect this thread instead of making a new one...
If folks have feedback on Hobbit Tales, this poster would like to hear about it: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?758290-Hobbit-Tales

You could always post links in the Fellowship of the One Ring sticky, Zed!
Re: [Lets try this again] Help at rpg.net
I tried that (for a previous opportunity) but I've found that posts there tend to get ignored. I know my eye skips over them.
