LOTR inspired beer mugs and tobacco

Post by Balou1917 » Sat May 09, 2015 11:07 pm

I recently purchased LOTR inspired beer mugs from"etsy.com/shop/FunctionalMud. They are beautiful and functional works of art. I found tobacco from: "Justforhim.com" the flavors were: Longbottom leaf, Old Toby, Ruins of Isengard, Shortcut to Mushrooms, and Treebeard.

I do not condone knuckleheaded behavior, although I have been accused of the same.......enjoy my fellow Hobbits.

A sampler package of 5 of the above mentioned "pipe-weeds" arrived in the mail yesterday. I think I may have to break out one of my seldom used pipes this weekend...

Will do! I actually was quite excited to hear there was a Middle Earth Pipe Weed line of tobaccos in existence. Back in the BC days (before children) when I didn't have to worry about setting an example, I used to indulge in a bowl every now and then. These days, well not so much. Anyway, back in 2000 I wrote a letter to the editors of Pipes and Tobaccos Magazine suggesting that it would be interesting to do a story on Tolkien and pipe-weed. Of course this was at the time of the first of the Lord of the Rings movies and all things Middle Earth were quite popular. Much to my surprise, my letter was published and I was rewarded with a nice piece on the professor and pipe-weed in the next issue (Winter 2001).

Hey that's cool!
I enjoy smoking a pipe occasionally -like today :)
Also very fond of a mug of ale- I'd really like a rustic Middle Earth style pint mug to put it in.
I haven't tried the Middle Earth pipeweed range, I get most of my stuff from 4Noggins & really like their "Trout Stream" blend.

I wonder if that magazine is still in business. I would love to get a copy of that issue. My subscription ran out quite a while before that, and I never renewed it.

It is, and yes you can order back issues. I know because I got that image from their website.

I have a bowl of the Ruins of Isengard lit as I type this. I really like it. Dark rich flavor with enough latakia to give it a good spiciness but an undertone of cavendish that gives it an overall sweetness without making feel like an aromatic. Nice Virginia base. I'm out of practice in describing such things, but I will say it leaves a nice first impression.
