Probably a silly question
Re: Probably a silly question
I think I am remembering your name from the old Cubicle 7 forum, Trotter. I don't know why, but your name is distinctive enough that it seems familiar to me (seems a good name for a Hobbit, too!).
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

You may be thinking of the pre-generated Hobbit character named Trotter included with the rule book.
Re: Probably a silly question
That might be it, though I think I am remembering Trotter (the poster) from the old C7 forums, too.

What time do you start your games from Kansas? How long do they usually last? Thursdays might be out for me right now, but boy would I love to be a player for a changeWbweather wrote:You are more than welcome to check out our Thursday night game. We use Fantasy Grounds. You can play for free (I have the Ultimate License so anyone can join my game with just the demo). We have room for a good player.

Yeah, we play from 8:00 to 11:00 CDT. I wouldn't be opposed to hosting an occasional weekend game though if there were enough people interested. Maybe not a full campaign, but a Wild Adventure might work nicely.

To add to your gaming options, I'm running a game about every other week on Fridays at about 9 PM Eastern Time, using Roll20 (we usually go unti l12 or 12:30 or so). Next session is this Friday, though we are about three-fourths of the way through the first adventure (the Marsh Bell). We just had a couple people drop out/unavailable for the day, so you could just run their character until you get the hang of it, or you can bring your own too. We're at a good place to throw in another character if need be.
Re: Probably a silly question
Thanks for the invitation! Due to family considerations (my wife owns her own business and we don't use day-care) I work odd hours. I'm off Tuesday and Wednesday and work from 2:30-11 pm cst. There is a chance that my days off will change to Wednesday and Thursday, in which case I would love to get involve with the Thursday game!Wbweather wrote:You are more than welcome to check out our Thursday night game. Thanks again, Wbweather!

Trotter was the original name for Strider / Aragorn in FotR when Tolkien hadn't fleshed out who Strider was and why he was important. And yes, Trotter was a Hobbit. You can find details in the History of Middle Earth (HOME) series. The name apparently derived from the clip-clop sounds made by his wooden shoes / clogs.Majestic wrote:I think I am remembering your name from the old Cubicle 7 forum, Trotter. "It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door," he used to say. "You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no telling where you might be swept off to."
Re: Probably a silly question
Yep. I took the name at the launch of LotRO on their forums because my last name is Holland. I couldn't use it in game because of Captain Trotter at the town way north of Bree, so I opted for for names starting with "St" except for elves. Storiodoc, Stefanwulf, Starthelion, Stigli, Stuffingrin, Stretto (actually an Italian musical term for short and fast - perfect for a hobbit minstrel!), Sarnpeth (Sinadrin meaning "rock word"), and so on.Brandiwise wrote:Trotter was the original name for Strider / Aragorn in FotR when Tolkien hadn't fleshed out who Strider was and why he was important. I rarely play these days, but I enjoy trying to translate my characters to TOR. I look forward to the Captain calling so I can put Stefanwulf on paper.
