Eh. I try to be laid back about people and their posting style; after all what I might intend as wrly amusing (see first sentence of this post) might come off badly. That's not to say I never get upset, just that I try to take people in the best possible way (if I can).

Anybody want to help write advice for each of the Theft pregens?

Thanks, I just snorted my drink up my nose a little. I'd like to help, especially since your adventures have given me so many hours of enjoyment, but don't feel super confident in my ability to do a great job. Could I volunteer as a proof-reader for all the pre-gen suggestions? Or you can assign me a character and I'll do my damnedest to live up to Glorelendil's epic feat with Egil's suggestions. ;)

Cool. I wouldn't mind a bit more expansiveness (from anyone) on Egil. Dhuoda might be a good one to look at, she is different from the original character but that might allow a bit of comparison and contrast.

That said, proofreading is always extremely helpful. I looked at the adventure on my tablet and found a few things. A reader messaged me with quite a few more, but another set of eyes can only help.

Is the version linked on page one of the thread still the correct version (a pdf ending in Proof2)? I'll take a look. And I'll try to come up with something useful for Dhuoda.

We should settle on some kind of format for the cheat sheets, rather than just making it free prose.

Anyway, here's a real pass at Egil. Probably a little lengthy.
  • Encounters:
Your home sees many foreign travelers, and you have had to learn how to talk with strangers. In social Encounters, you would make a good spokesperson. Use Courtesy (2) for introductions, and Persuade (3) to sway others. If you want to play it safe, use your Folk-lore trait for an auto-success.

    Journeys:
With decent Explore (2) and Travel (2) skills, you can fill the roll of Scout or Guide on Journeys, although if somebody else has 3 points let them take that role. And don't be afraid to invoke your Hardy trait now and then for an auto-success on Fatigue checks.

    Combat:
With low Wits and no shield, Egil needs to worry about getting hit, so you'll mostly want to be in Defensive stance, especially with your Parry bonus from Swordmaster, and with your skill of 3 in Swords you have a good chance of hitting foes despite the high base TN. The only time you might consider leaving Defensive stance is to use either your Song (2) or your Inspire (2) skill to Rally Comrades from Open stance.

    Other:
Between a decent Craft (2) and his Smith-craft trait, Egil is an excellent blacksmith. You might be able to barter your skills for something you need, or curry favor by repairing somebody's sword. Keep an eye out for other opportunities as well.

Music carries a powerful magic of its own in Middle Earth; when stuck for a solution to a problem don't forget your Song (2) skill. Be creative, and ask your LM.
EDIT: I edited down a bit, and added the skill numbers to see how it looks/feels.

My advice for Dhuoda (shamelessly stealing Glorelendil's style, and also probably too long):

Encounters:
You are a very social and outgoing person, and thus make an excellent lead in social encounters. You can use Awe both for introductions and to otherwise impress people in a very direct way, while your Insight lets you read them well and thus choose your approach better, while your Noble Armor insulates you rather thoroughly against many failures. Your high Insight is also likely to provide bonus dice, which combined with minimal amounts of Courtesy, Inspire, and Riddle, allow you to chance those skills at need (especially if you're willing to spend Hope). Your Folk Lore Trait will also prove very useful in interacting with strangers of other folk, and your Curious Trait could be useful on Insight checks.

Journeys:
Your Travel and Awareness skills are adequate, and you can thus serve as a Guide or Look-Out at need, but you really shine as a Hunter, with a very high Hunting skill that is also Favored, and should assume that role if possible. Of your Traits, Anduin-lore has definite uses for a guide within the vale of Anduin, and Beast-lore has obvious uses as a Hunter. Curious might also be quite useful on Awareness checks at need.

Combat:
Combat isn't your main area, but you are perfectly competent in it. Given your low combat skill, you should remain in Forward Stance as much as possible, allowing you to get in hits with your large axe. You'll probably also take a few hits due to your mediocre Parry combined with the ease of hitting people Forward Stance, but you have the Endurance to take a few hits without too much trouble.

Other:
Your Healing is adequate, making you a decent choice to patch people up if nobody is really focused on it, and your Athletics and Stealth are quite good if you're willing to spend Hope. Look for opportunities to use the latter two, as well as your Swift Distinction (you'd be excellent at a foot race, for example).

The file in the first post on the Introductory Adventure thread has the up to date characters in the back. Did you want to take a crack at Luthwen or Walferd?

Thanks to everyone else, this is fine; I can always edit down rather than expand up.
