Wow. The situation sounds like it is rising in intensity no matter how you look at it. Perfect. The way Carn Dûm should be.

Tonight I got the session. Was wondering about the options open to Burzash and the Witch-Servant, and to the Hillmen of Rhudaur too (will they desert?), so I went back to re-reading the adventure.
I was forgetting that the Witch-Servant was put in command of Carn Dum directly by the lord of the Nazgul! His charisma is certainly huge, and with Personality 3d+6 he got good chance to persuade Burzash that it's safer to not displease him.
Probably most of the Goblins will cower in the depth of the fortress (the Witch-Servant is a relative newcomer, while the Steward had been their lord since forever), leaving the Witch-Servant and his Hillmen willing fight, with the addition of a dubious Burzash (and his scary retinue).
