TOR Red Box

Post by robbmiller » Sun Jul 05, 2015 7:51 pm

My first experience GMing a game was in 1983 using the AD&D Red box. I had previously been a player for a summer campaign. I ran that campaign for 18 months.

The next time I had the opportunity was with D&D 3rd edition rules circa 2001. Again I used the Starter Set to get things rolling.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to LM a TOR campaign. However, I feel a bit lost and am having difficulty latching on to where to start. I was wondering if there was a member of this vibrant community that has developed a "starter set" for us TOR newbies.

BTW: As I love this world, I have already invested in all of the books (more than one copy of some including first edition PDF's etc.)

Search for Zedturtle's "Theft of the Moon" adventure. It is a very helpful introductory adventure that you can use to help everyone get familiar with the game. Just search for it here on the forums, or if you see the "House Rules" forum, there is a post that Zedturtle put up about magic. In his signature there is a link to that introductory adventure.

Besides that, The Marsh Bell, the included adventure from the Core Book, or Tales from Wilderland, are all good places to do a pre-written adventure that really holds the hand for the GM.

Here's a direct link: The Theft of the Moon

I encourage you to check out all of the links in my signature, especially the FAQ one, the development thread for Theft, and the character sheet one. Hopefully that will help you out. Also, check out Rich H's big thread of stuff for lots of other helpful stuff.

And, please, ask questions here. We'd be glad to help out.
