Looking for TOR Game

Post by robert_pat » Sun Jul 05, 2015 10:05 pm

I just want to start by saying that I'm sorry if topics like this are against the rules. I know they are in similar communities, but I couldn't find a rule prohibiting it here.

I discovered this game about a year ago, and instantly fell in love. Since then I've introduced a group of six players to TTRPGs with TOR, and have introduced three RPG veteran friends of mine to it. But I've always been the LM, for a few good reasons. In each case, I've been the most experienced at RPGs, I've known the most about the Professor's work, and I've been the only one to have heard of TOR and read the rules. But I would really love to be a player!

There is one problem though. In my zeal, after discovering TOR and introducing my friends to it, I've read a lot of the published material already (it is really of astounding quality IMHO), even material I have yet to run in my groups. I've read TfW, DoM, and I've skimmed HotW and Rivendell.

If anyone is running a game online without this published material, and is looking for another player, I would be happy for the opportunity!

Contact Elfhelm.

Our group uses Fantasy Grounds to play so we have world wide players.

He's at his summer retreat now, so he won't be back for most of July.

The group currently has a high elf (me), a dunedain, a mirkwood elf, and a dwarf.

I'm running both unique stuff (the Beornsvager Saga and whatever else the players want) and the official stuff (Darkening of Mirkwood after a great run on Tales of Wilderland). I know everyone has their own personal cut-offs for this sort of thing, but it doesn't bother me that some of my players know the material as well (or better, who knows? :) ) as I do... I change things up to match my players and my interests. Plus, it can be about the personal discovery and interaction... I know that the C7 staff have spoke about their own Darkening campaign. It goes without saying that they're all 'spoiled' on it, but it's still interesting in how things turn out, and how much impact they can have until the end.

At the moment, I'm full up on my games, but if you're interested in PbP then I will put you on the wait-list.

EDIT: Also meant to mention James R Brown's excellent Wild Adventures. Check out the house rules forum for those... that way you can have an adventure that no one has ever played before! (Since they're all randomly generated, and in a nice and useful fashion)
Jacob Rodgers, occasional nitwit.

We play on Thursday nights at 8:30ish CST. We could always fit in a player. We are working our way through the DoM interspersed with TfW. We took a month off due to summer travel plans, but will be starting back up in a couple of weeks, if you are interested. We use Fantasy Grounds as well. I have an Ultimate license, so players don't have tyo buy anything.

I guess I may have been a bit closed minded about that. I'm sure the C7 staff know DoM far better than I do!
