Whatever happened to Horse-lords of Rohan? :)

Post by Ferretz » Sat Aug 08, 2015 10:31 am

So I seem to remember reading that the Horse-lords of Rohan book would be available for pre-order soon, but that was back in April or May if my memory is correct.
I know that the standard answer to such questions is that we should pay attention to the news on the site, but have there been any news since April? I couldn't find any on the site.

Guess I'm just a bit restless for more The One Ring goodies. :)

Honestly, I don't remember. I believe I heard something about them pushing back the schedule ("or shedual, as they would say") to improve quality. I might be wrong, though. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to that supplement! That one and the one that's going to include the culture for Gondor and the new calling, Captain. Fingers crossed!!! :)

I'm planning to introduce new players to The One Ring soon, and I've run the same adventures so many times now (Marsh Bell and Tales from Wilderland). It would be good to mix things up a little, maybe start a campaign in Rohan? So I'm very eager for this book, and the adventure collection that goes with it.
And of course, Adventurerer's Companion, with the new cultures and such, will be excellent! :)

C7, how about it? Any time frame (days, weeks, months)? :)

When you think how many new books they've put out in the last six months there is now wonder that something slipped a little (and we don't know if the slippage is due to the M-e E review process or something else (playtesting for example).

I just glad to have received the SOE Handbook a little earlier than I expected, had a chance to get into the WWC Kickstarter, purchased Rivendell, Ruins of the North, As Above, So Below, Targets of Opportunity and seen the Cthulhu Britannica boxed set, Keltia, the new Yggdrasil and Kuro books and the Lone Wolf game. C7 aren't a one trick pony and their long term good financial health depends on a broad base of product to spread the risk. TOR players can complain about the lack of something new, but I've got plenty to keep me entertained already.

PS You already know the answer - keep watching the sky, no, I mean the website.

I'm just hoping that C7 would put up a nice, big article on their site on Monday with the title "Horse-lords of Rohan now available for pre-order." That would be excellent! :P

It certainly would! I'm eagerly (i.e. impatiently) awaiting it too. But I think even if that does happen, it'll still be months before the associated adventure collection comes out.

It's painful to hear about these wonderful-sounding books and then have to wait months for any word of when I can have them. Mind you, it would be even worse if I had no idea what was coming! At least this way I can salivate with anticipation...

I don't want to seem like a misery guts, I just WANT IT ALL NOW. :D

Hey, if nothing else, the old forum posts and the new homebrew forum still have some pretty swell stuff about Rohan. I even made a homebrew of Rohan myself - I might post it up here later on, we'll see. If you need campaign/adventure ideas, I'm more than happy to throw a few out there.

Interesting. For background, cultures and such, I only use "official" stuff. But for stories and adventures, I'm all for it, so if you have some stuff to share, it would be great. :)

They must be a decent way along in the production of Horse-lords of Rohan, from what I can tell, since they've run 'Red Days Rising', an adventure set in Rohan in which the players are Rohirrim, at two conventions already. I was lucky enough to sit in on a session of RDR at GenCon a week ago, and from the locations the adventure was set in and the details about the Rohirrim player culture, I'd guess a lot of work has already gone into the book. Looking forward to it very much! :)

I'm confused now. I didn't even realize The Adventurer's Companion was a book that is supposed to come out. I guess it is going to come some of what was planned for Horse-Lords of Rohan? Or am I mis-remembering or mis-reading? Is the Captain calling going to be in TAC or HLoR?
