Middle-earth Lore: new YouTube series

Post by mirkwoodfalcon » Sat Aug 08, 2015 3:13 pm

Hello all!

I've recently had the privilege of working with about 20 other people on a new YouTube video series that aims to present the lore of Middle-earth in a new and exciting way, and I thought some people here might be interested in checking it out!

Middle-earth Lore: Chapter 1-- The Shire

We just launched the series last Monday. It's been in the works for well over a half a year now, and we've got many many more episodes to come! :)

Let me know what you think if you end up watching it!

Fantastic! Did you make the models and animations yourself? I'll definitely ask my players to watch these, and for that matter, watch them all myself!

Just a thought, since they are both for increasing existing fans' knowledge AND for helping new fans, you might want to go back and define a few terms or show places on the map. For instance, you never actually say where Eriador is, although you mention it several times. I'd go back and make sure that every Tolkien-specific proper noun that you use is actually defined, as I can see someone who's not really all that familiar getting a bit lost.

Great job, can't wait for more!

Fantastic, really impressed ! This is really, really good, the graphics are outstanding. I find it very useful as a LM to go through the history of ME in such a way. Waiting for more !

The models and animations were recorded from The Lord of the Rings Online and the Third Age: Total War mod for Medieval II: Total War. I'll pass along the comments about the maps and terms to the team, I only play a small role in writing the scripts. :) Glad you liked it, our next episode should be out in about 2 weeks!

Ah, I still need to put in some work on 7 and 8 myself. :) Nice to meet another member of the writing team, funny running into you here!
