Lorien Help

Post by jmartinclass » Sun Aug 16, 2015 10:10 pm

Hello guys,
Need some help (ideas) concerning Lorien.

The fellowship in my game was trapped in Dol Guldor, after having good escape ideas and great luck in the dices they managed to escape, but obe of them , an elf , was wounded by a morgul blade, the elf had 15 days left but unexpected they were able to reach Lorien.

Now how can I, as a loremaster , in game terms use Lorien? Since there are no books (from cubicle 7) describing the place and no rules. Should I only use my Tolkien knowledge? Inventor some house rules?

Thanks a lot

The Lady's Garden (Heart of the Wild, page 57) might help you, if you (or your players) prefer an official place for the hero to receive aid. Perhaps Galadriel can come to visit them, but it should be a very special occasion for all the heroes... maybe as if in a dream and the elf hero is healed in the morning.

Yes, I also thought of the Lady's Garden as a place under the domain of the Galadhrim, but not inside their sacred forest (if you don't want your Fellowship to visit Caras Galadhon still). There they can meet Haldir, who speaks Westron as sometimes travels to the lands of men.

But it is true that only someone like Galadriel or Radagast should be able to cure a Morgul blade wound in Rhovanion. If the escape was that heroic, I think you should allow for Galadriel to intervine, but probably the heroes should not be entirely be able to interact with her. Maybe only the elves in the group could be able to see something more than a light of pure white.

Irimë, from Those Who Tarry No Longer in Tales of the Wilderland can be a good inspiration on how to present the Lady of Lórien to the players.

I would argue Dunedain will also be able to interact with Galadriel. They may or may not need the 'Against the Unseen' virtue to detect her spiritual power first.
