Savage Wolfdogs from Ruins of the North

Post by Falenthal » Wed Sep 16, 2015 8:13 am

In page 10 of Ruins of the North we find the stats for the Savage Wolfdogs.
Is it correct that they don't have any skill underlined as Favourite?

Wolves from the Core have Perception, Survival and Bite, for example.

That's how they are in both the printed and PDF versions. I'm pretty sure it's correct.

Note that the "wild wolves" in the core book are actually wargs, and are said to be "slightly larger than an ordinary
Wolf, and much more vicious". The savage wolfdogs are meant to be a cross between these and domestic dogs, so I think it makes sense that they're a lesser threat.

In fact their Perception is slightly better overall, as the extra die gives them a marginlly higher average and, more importantly, a better chance of a great/extraordinary success. But it might be argued that they've been bred for geater perceptive abilities. It makes sense to me that their Survival skills are lower, as they are (semi-)domesticated.

One thing that is a bit weird is that the wolfdogs actually do more damage with their bite (4 instead of Attribute level, i.e. 3) despite having a lower Attribute level. When I use them, I think I'll lower it to 3 or even 2, but I'll make the Bite attack favoured (which only adds 2 anyway, so is hardly game-breaking).
Aiya Eärendil Elenion Ancalima!

... but you can call me Mark.
