I've no speculation, but I do hope the Elves of Lórien culture includes options for playing Elves of Noldorin heritage, and/or Galadhrim of special qualities (like Galadriel herself). This is the culture I most want to play, and I'm struggling to keep a lid on my eagerness!

I love the Noldor too, but I'm not sure it would be easy to fit a high level Noldor character in my campaign without unbalancing it. They're just so strong that I'm afraid they'd run over the other players unless it was done really carefully. I do have one player who has a part-Noldor character, a quarter Noldor and three-quarters Avari, who has some of the Noldor abilities in dilute form and was unaware of them when the game started, and that's working. (Nereinde is a granddaughter of Maglor, the result of his wanderings in the Second Age, but when the game began she had no idea who Maglor or the Sons of Feanor even were when she turned up in the Woodland Realm having come up the Celduin looking for adventure.) So I've successfully introduced some Noldor abilities, but I've really had to dilute it down.

Surely, lacking a published alternative, you could use the High Elves of Rivendell culture as a substitute for High Elves of Lothlorien? Just tweak some of the virtues and rewards.

Presumably any Noldor exile born in Middle-Earth would be on par with a Sindarin Elf. Other than slight cultural differences (being more focused on "crafting" in general), they would be equal to the Sindarin Elves in Rivendell (which mixed both Noldorin and Sindarin refugees in the 2nd Age). It really is only those Elves born or who lived long in Aman that had the additional qualities like an inner light.....

That's fair, but if it were me I wouldn't want to house-rule it for two reasons:
1) As much as I love discussing house rules in theory, I really don't like using them in practice. Somehow it feels like using cheat codes in a video game or something. It's not "the game". I don't even like re-fluffing official material without changing mechanics. Weird, I know, but what can you do?
2) That is especially true for material you know is likely to be published soon. Because then you run into the problem of the official version coming out and realizing your character is completely out of whack.

Yes, I know you can just shrug and make changes to your character sheet, but that always rubs me the wrong way.

Heh, I feel the same way since I think we should be able to use TOR to play Magicians (who are mentioned in the canon).... ;)

A noldor that has not seen the light of the trees is a noldor?

What else do you call the offspring of two Noldor?

It does raise the question of whether having seen the light yourself is a requirement, or whether the change is somehow inheritable. Without necessarily having a genetics rationale, I would lean toward the latter.

There are Caliquendi Noldor (who have seen the light of the Two Trees) and Moriquendi Noldor (who have not).

I could, yes, but the material C7 has produced thus far is stellar. I'd really rather see what they do with it, and work with that if I want to add/change things. I may just have to fudge it for a while, sure, if I can even find a game. But I'd give anything to have the Adventurer's Companion book for Christmas!
