Happy Durin's Day!
Using the lunar phases, October 22 by Shire Reckoning is a good candidate for the date that Durin's Day fell on in The Hobbit. This is assuming a waxing crescent moon at Midsummer's Eve (1 Lithe) and including the fact that the Dwarves' New Year fell on the first day of the last crescent moon of Autumn.
Tolkien himself suggested October 19 for Durin's Day; however, that only works astronomically if the Midsummer's Eve moon is right on the cusp of the First Quarter moon. According to Thorin, while Bilbo and the company were waiting on the Doorstep, this was also the first day of the last [full] week of Autumn. So, it would seem that the Dwarves considered the start of Winter to coincide approximately with the beginning of November.
Possibly by coincidence, October 22 was also a Monday, the first day of the week in the Shire calendar.

I'm feeling too lazy to verify this, but I'm pretty sure this is the day Durin supposedly woke up.Falenthal wrote:Does anyone know why is this day called "Durin's Day"? Did Durin do somenthing special?

May you beard grows... no, wait! You're and Elf.Lara Redleaf wrote:Funny enough, Durin's Day is also my birthday!
I have a question for you then, Cirdan grew a beard because he was an old Elf (a "first generation" created directly by Eru and awoken in Middle-earth, not born from Elven parents). So... will Galadriel have to shave eventually as well in some millenia when her age matches Cirdan's current age?
I bring a gift for all of you to celebrate Dwarven New Year (yes, that was Durin's Day is)!
I've persuaded a Dwarven scholar from the Iron Hills to share some knowledge of their very secretive speech with us!!!"Then what is Durin's Day?" asked Elrond.
"The first day of the dwarves' New Year," said Thorin, "is as all should know the first, day of the last moon of Autumn on the threshold of Winter. We still call it Durin's Day when the last moon of Autumn and the sun are in the
sky together.

Neo-khuzdul is the effort of some Tolkiendili linguists out there to flesh out the khuzdul language, which was left in a quite sketchy state by our good Professor Tolkien. Biggest effort was made by David Salo, who worked for I.C.E. in their M.E.R.P. line and then with Peter Jackson in the LotR movies (yes, the writings on Mazarbul chamber can be read a had a meaning as the Neo-khuzdul chorus of some songs!).

Today, October 27, would have been Durin's Day in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, based on the phases of the moon shown on Midsummer's Eve in Rivendell and when Bilbo found the keyhole to the Secret Door at Erebor.
