Spirit-wargs

Do y'all suppose Spirit-wargs are disembodied-ish?

I only see reference to them in Heart of the Wild. A general search of the internet doesn't turn up anything either. I guess in light of that I can just make 'em whatever the heck I want them to be. Just curious if anyone has any other source info.

(My recent Tolkien re-read only included The Hobbit; if they show up in LOTR I don't recall them from years past.)
