Hey folks,
I know that when a PC misses an attack and so with an eye result, the enemy will attempt a called shot for its next attack.
What I don't see is if an attack can be successful with the eye result. For example, if I have a sword skill of 3 and I'm trying for a TN of 14, I can roll and eye and 3 tengwars. That, at least mathematically, is an exceptional success.
What's the rule I'm missing here?
Thanks!
rolling "the eye" on an attack roll
Re: rolling "the eye" on an attack roll
Yes, it would be succesful and, therefore, won't trigger any Called Shot from the adversary.
As you said, Called Shots from enemies are triggered by "roll an Eye AND miss the attack".
If the attack is succesful, the criteria isn't met.

Note, however, that if you're using the Eye of Mordor rules from Rivendell, an eye is always bad news - success or failure on the roll, your company's Visibility still goes up.

Any roll other than a combat roll.Glorelendil wrote:I thought it's just on common skills.T.S. Luikart wrote:Note, however, that if you're using the Eye of Mordor rules from Rivendell, an eye is always bad news - success or failure on the roll, your company's Eye Awareness still goes up.
That means it still goes up on a Test.

The rules say "outside of combat" only.
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
