I'm curious to learn about the Year's End Narrations in your games, and if your players used their Standing to affect events taking place in their home settlements/regions.
Thank you in advance for sharing!

Re: Year End Narration and Player Intervention
It hasn't come up a ton in my game, but there were a couple of instances where it played a part:
In 2955 our adventurers went up and down the western eaves of Mirkwood, drumming up support amongst the Woodmen and Beornings, before the Council of the North the following year (one of the PCs doing this was a Woodman).
And we'll soon play the *SPOILER* "Death of Ingomer", and the PCs will be using what influence they have to help choose a new War-Leader.
But overall, they haven't tended to do a lot of using their Standing to influence events in their own cultures that much, or to hobnob with powerful folks or the like.

Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

My players don't use it much, either. Most of the time they come up with their own "things to do and people to talk with" during the Winter Phase, so that the most of the rest that happens in the Wilderland is, for them, things "other people do".

New supplement idea (fan or official): a whole book of "News from Home", by culture, with opportunities for players to sway events, using Standings and Holdings.

Re: Year End Narration and Player Intervention
Only a couple of them have, but it's been more often that they use their narration to justify their gains. For example, the Elf raising standing having spent the money on Feasting Thranduil at mid-winter. Or same elf raising standing by hiring dwarves to dig out a new lower cavern. And the Woodman hiring a halfling to cook at a new roadhouse. (The standing comes from building the roadhouse as much as hiring the cook...)beckett wrote:I'm curious to learn about the Year's End Narrations in your games, and if your players used their Standing to affect events taking place in their home settlements/regions.
