How did it feel as it felt a hand grab it from behind? What was it thinking as the life fled from its body? Was it scared? Did it think of its mate? The character can't shake these thoughts. This is the difference between stabbing in the back and killing in open battle, and the source of shadow points.
Exactly. Well put.

That is, I mean...

Even in open battle... Some sources says that knight from age past, however professionals soldiers as they were, where suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as result of war. Taking live of other, and in hand to hand melee is a gruesome and dirty job. It's more a matter of will than of technics. Almost 75% of soldier in WWII have not shoot at other ennemy soldier first time they have opportunities at.

And you know what? I'm perfectly happy with that :)

Yeah, in a perfect simulation of the world as it is, there'd be a lot more Shadow and Corruption Tests. But gaming in Middle-earth is about the world (and the heroes within it) as we might want it to be, and I think the current rules work well for that.
