Edge Ratings and Gandalf Rune
Edge Ratings and Gandalf Rune
So something else I have come across that i am not sure about. If a player makes a called shot to Pierce and succeeds with a Tengar and a Gandalf Rune, does that force the enemy to make two armour saves? For example, the player makes a called shot, and hits with a 6 and a Gandalf Rune which makes the called shot trigger and also meets his Edge Rating requirements. Was just wondering as the rulebook states that when making called shots, if successful you apply everything that would normally happen with the roll plus the called shot effect. It seems a little unlikely that this is the case (as it would allow a player to miraculously bring a troll down in one swoop if lucky), but I have been running it this way for the last couple of sessions. It has only come up once as it is a rare roll to get, but I thought I would ask here anyway.
Sorry to ask so many questions on the forums. I do check them first to try find answers.
Cheers guys.

Re: Edge Ratings and Gandalf Rune
Don't know the official answer, but I've never done so... IMO a called shot simply makes the edge "1"
Re: Edge Ratings and Gandalf Rune
Also no official answer, just an opinion: no double-piercing
Re: Edge Ratings and Gandalf Rune
Yea that's what I'mgonna rule next session, otherwise it adds that chance for players to just instantly drop larger threats which kinda goes against what I feel this system is about

This has come up before, probably at least two years ago - prior to the new edition I think. You might try the Palantir to check.

With my group of adventurers and also with our former Loremaster I always consider the single protection test in these cases. The great success means the PC adds his damage rate to the attack.
Re: Edge Ratings and Gandalf Rune
There are no double Piercings, as the others have said before. The text of the book doesn't clarify this and, in fact, helps understand that there should be two Piercings:
But no, there can be only 1 Pierce per attack.these effects are applied in addition
to the normal consequences of a successful attack (loss
of Endurance, Piercing blow, etc.).
Re: Edge Ratings and Gandalf Rune
Yes, just a single Pierce.
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
