I thought that the modified encounter test for meeting the lady and Legolas was frustrating for both GM and players. By treating each character individually and requiring for a minimum of 4 successes (7 for best result) each meant a lot of dice rolling, even when allowing for a little roleplay/traits to grant a automatic successes.
Under normal circumstances, a few checks between various members and that's it, the encounter flows nicely, job done. Because insight etc meant that the characters realised that she was not overly impressed, they carried on and on - eventually it was like pulling teeth. As it was the last player ran out of steam long before he ran out of tolerance and got a negative result with 3 successes.
It would have been much better to vastly increase the difficulty of the tests and start the beneficial results at 1.
I would go with difficulty 18 (or maybe even higher) - she has been around for 7k years - she has seen it all and little impresses her. She will be polite but otherwise aloof.
0 successes - as per 1-3 in the adventure.
1-2 success - as per 4-6.
3 as per 7.

Thank you for posting this.
I haven't played this yet, but I notice you're not the first gamer to comment on this situation.
You raise a good point about the rolling & I'm going to use your recommendation if I run this & see if it doesn't simplify the process.
