Quick note on Dwarven War Ponies... there are not such thing. Animals do not get along with Dwarves and they use the most tranquil ponies only for travel. For war they use goats, hundreds of them

I'm not sure that the Dwarves of Middle-earth ever developed an interest in cavalry at all -- Dain (in the book-canon) didn't bring any with him for the Battle of Five Armies. Nor do I remember any examples from The Silmarillion. Although, perhaps there might be an exception or two among the Dwarves of Rhûn in the Orocarni about whom we know next to nothing.

Alas (some would opine), yes. I wouldn't have minded a war-boar for ol' Ironfoot if Jackson hadn't insisted on such a silly design.

What Tolkien failed to mention is the train of supply wagons pulled by ponies (or goats?) that was likely a couple of days or so behind Dain's troops.

Finally, we get rules for horses. And as I have two Dwarf characters in my current group, I'll just use the rules for Draught-horse for pony. Not the same animal, of course, but stat-wise they can be used as such.

Oh, and by the way, small typo I found (didn't specifically look for typos, but it sprang at me): page 147, under Horsetailed Helm: the word "role" is used instead of "roll".

The Journeys and Maps sourcebook should be the proper place to flesh all means of transport, I guess. Both terresteal and aquatic.

Dwarves in the Orocarni? You've made me curious, where are they named? I remeber a quote saying in the East Dwarves were the teachers of men (unlike the west, where Elves were the teachers), but nothing specific about the Orocarni or Rhûn.
