An "Exile" is somebody who can't go home and is therefore pushed away from it. His motive is to achieve a goal that allows him to return, while avoiding that from which he flees. Personality/Perception?
Whether that's a useful distinction depends entirely on whether increasing the number of Callings is a desirable goal.
Rignuth is an exile...outlaw, and I built him entirely using wanderer. I think it has worked well. I'd be more in favor of seeing additional things tied to Callings (having a great impact on the game), than I would seeing more callings. The only one I see missing currently is something like "Captain" (leader, guide, something like that)

Yeah, adding Virtues (or a special ability, like Cultural Blessing?) would really jazz up Callings. Or even just some Distinctive Features that were unique to cultures.
But what about the Servant/Follower/Loyalist/BFF/Gamgee Calling that was discussed a while back?

I could see it. I think it's justified. I'd be willing to hear comments/discussion both for and against it.

Wouldn't Exile be more suited to a Background though? I've always thought about Callings as this is your hero's calling in life. He is called to be a Wanderer because he is drawn to seeing the world outside his borders. He is not really called to be an Exile. That's something that happened to him and/or his family because of a set of social or political circumstances that occurred in his backstory.

Yeah, that's all pretty valid.
Not all my ideas are good ones.
Few, even.

I don't know about that. I'm keen on your Delving ideas.

We're getting Captain in
Adventurer's Companion, no doubt as a result of the Men of Gondor. Curulon will probably switch to one.

"Exile" Calling, anyone?
Wanderer covers that, surely? I'm sure Thengel was just the most famous Rohirrim to flee Fengel's toxic political climate.
Exile feels more like a Background then a Calling, but then the Wandering Outcast background for Riders of Rohan probably fits the bill.
You've nailed it. Wandering Outcast is readily tailored to Exile.

I just used exactly this situation when I created Freya, an NPC half-Rohirrim half-Dunlending guide to get my PCs across Rohan to Isengard, where they had been invited by Saruman to discuss the Chain they had seen in the Dwimmerhorn. Naturally C7 announced pre-order of
Riders of Rohan just as soon as my party finished that adventure!
I gave Freya a childhood and youth in the Westfold, where Fengel had cracked down hard on the Dunlendings and those of mixed blood when his forces took the area back from Dunland. For a character who wasn't truly welcome in either culture, and whose home and family had been pretty well destroyed by Fengel, I thought it perfectly natural for her to become a servant of Saruman. And I thought robert_pat's Refugee calling was most appropriate to that.

Fantastic ideas.
