Hi to all
my player in ours firts OR campaing make me some questions about Campaing Phase and Winter.
So I bring them to you all:
- What is the advantage to have a patron? In the adventures book "Tales from the Wilderland" many times players if performed well, can gain a patron. But this how change the game and also why a Characters should prefer Beorn or Bard or make other choises in his/her Campaign Phase. Just role?
- Another player asked to me: once I became rich what can I do? Raise Standing? Stop? What about increase my wealth? Is useless?
- When a player opens a new shelter, is this open for all? The company will be divided if only one member decides to return back home?
Many thanks to you all! And have a good game!

Re: Wealth, Patron and Company Phase
A Patron dispenses tasks and is used by the LM to provide adventures for the companions. See The Marsh Bell adventure in the LM book for sn example of a Patron being used to dispense an adventure hook.
Wealth/Treasure points can be spent to increase Standing at home. They can also be spent in any other way that the LM decides is a good use of wealth. Increased Standing allows access to goods that may not be available to those from a Poor Background for example. In any case the One Ring is not a game about acquiring money/Treasure (except maybe Dwarves or Men with dragon-sickness) as you can do very little with it. The LM could rule that a certain amount of Treasure could be spent on an Inn or Farm for an adventurer to retire to.
Opening a new Sanctuary provides another place that can be used for tasks and actions that can only happen in a Sanctuary - certain Fellowship Phase actions can only be done in a Sanctuary. The company may not want to travel back and forward across the countryside to return to the only Sanctuary they have at the start. All companions _must_ choose to Open a new Sanctuary as a Fellowship Phase action. One companion cannot open a new sanctuary. If the company loses a companion then that companion cannot count the new Sanctuary as such so the LM should encourage agreement amongst the company for the tasks during a Fellowship Phase to avoid this problem.

Patrons are described on pp. 171–2 of the Adventurer's Guide. They provide quests, support, and advice. You can go to a Patron when you need help and you won't have to convince him to help you.ZioHal wrote:What is the advantage to have a patron?
The most important thing you can do with Treasure is to raise your Standing (Adventurer's Guide, p. 117) at home. Standing is used to interact with important people in your home area, especially during Year's End. If your Standing is high enough you can influence politics and events back home.once I became rich what can I do?
You can also use Treasure to raise your Standard of Living (Adventurer's Guide, p. 173).
The Loremaster might even let you spend Treasure in other ways. For instance, you might agree to give Treasure to a non-player character as a bribe.
All members of a company must Open New Sanctuary, or else everyone in the company must convince the people living there to let them stay. When a player opens a new shelter, is this open for all?
During a Fellowship Phase, any member of the company can be assumed to go home and return within no more than three months, from anywhere in Wilderland. The company will be divided if only one member decides to return back home?

By the way, "Raise your Standing" is something like "come back home, with a lot of gifts for relatives and old friends. Pay for a company of dwarfish stonemasons to build a new well for the village. And a better home for Ingrid, the old widow, whose bones are always aching in that decrepit hut".
