In my opinion, I think TOR is just a superior Roleplaying Game. I think it's mechanics and character design options are superior to D&D or Pathfinder. I think a few tweaks could be made to the to put it over the top, but I genuinely feel that this game is an amazing production as it stands.
I agree. I don't need a new Middle Earth roleplaying game...I love the one I have...which is why I hope the new one is designed for the largest market possible and not for me.
I feel like number crunching tank builders of D&D and Pathfinder want to play a tactical boardgame/miniatures game, and not a "role" playing game, and therefore are just fooling themselves, or just to do what their friends are doing. Besides, isn't that Shadowrun is for?
Wow. I'm not so dismissive of D&D players as a group, and I suspect I'm probably fooling myself about a number of things as well, so I'm not going to judge them for that. I've met many D&D players who tell a great story with interesting characters. Better even than some TOR players I've encountered.

I agree and C7 really need to avoid changing D&D too much otherwise they lose a massive part of that potential market. There's certainly room for two games and not just systems that do the same thing; The One Ring emulates role-playing in a Tolkien story, D&D can support role-playing in the Middle Earth world. There is a different between the two and the market can support them both.

I mean that in jest of course, but I feel like EVERYONE here knows "that guy" with the Dwarf Warrior Mage/Cleric Multiclassed with Magic Resistance and Close Combat Proficiency, etc...haha, or something that sounds like that. Or, someone said here, Fireball Throwing Hobbit/Halfing Warriors.

That's a bit of a stretch, but the business world with its fiscal calendars can be odd that way. A more logical and reasonable break-down would be:
- January through March= Winter
- April through June = Spring
- July through September = Summer
- October through December = Fall
But how often is the business world either logical or reasonable?

Indeed. There are several of them who play TOR and post here occasionally.

Yep. As mentioned before, I think one of D&D's strength is its flexibility that it has gained over the years by trying to be a little bit of everything for everybody (that doesn't mean I don't like a focused game that excellently delivers its intended playstyle, like TOR).
Over the years, I've run or played in a number of games with D&D engines, everything from 'kill the evil god before he gets real power' to 'subtle politics with the defining scene of the campaign a speech to the IsleRaed.*' which is why I feel there's enough room for a D&D in Middle-earth game.
We'll see soon how exactly we get there.

Thanks. I read the title as
Adventures in Middle-earth (small 'e'). I think that the previous reference just used the incorrect capitalization.

And also:
We have no plans to cut back TOR whatsoever. It's one of our most successful game lines. We've released more supplements for it in 2016 than we did in all of 2015, with more to come. Including unannounced titles.
Followed by:
Well, with us all proving to be nightmarish perfectionists about the Adventurers Companion, you'll need something(s) to keep you busy!
If the following surprises are like Erebor, I'll patiently wait for the Adventurer's Companion.
