That's a little bit tight, but it's possible. We're into the fuzzy times now that involve the lengths of pieces of string: If the print proofing goes flawlessly, and if the shipping goes flawlessly, then it's certainly a possibility that it'll be at Expo. But we can't promise it.

What an incredibly satisfying moment, tea in the morning and a pre-order release by dinner. What are we going to do for supper? Riddle our way through a maze of Erebor-ian speculations put to rest. Fantastic release!

Skimming through Journeys and Maps makes me want to embark on a world tour of Middle earth. Great stuff. Can't wait to bring it into my weekly game.

Purchased, had a little PayPal issue (mentioned in the main official thread for the book) and now advertised on the Tolkien Society's Facebook group page. My job is done*

I've pre-ordered J&M and I've now received the pdfs for it. One question that I have now that I've seen the maps: Are the Halls of the Dwarves in the northern Blue Mountains meant to be the former Halls of Thorin Oakenshield? If so, they are as much as one hundred miles farther north than I have imagined them to be. I never thought that they would have been so near the ruins of Belegost and Nogrod (Belegost would have been roughly twenty-five miles south of the Halls of the Dwarves on the map and Nogrod was alleged to be about twenty-one miles--seven leagues--south of her sister city).

I hope that the entry in The Adventurer's Companion for the Dwarves of the Blue Mountains includes communities of Dwarves in the southern Blue Mountains. Professor Tolkien indicated in LotR Appendix A that such settlements should have still existed at least into the beginning of the Fourth Age.

It's a beautiful book but that surprises me as well. I'm guessing they'll work the Dwarves in the southern Ered Luin into a future release, like the Adventurer's Companion or such.

For the time being I am going to assume that the Halls of the Dwarves (Sindarin Naugroth?; Khuzdul Khazad-gundu?) represents the oldest dwarven community still in existence in the northern Blue Mountains.

I will speculate that the Halls of the Dwarves were established by the House of the Dwarves of Nogrod (the Firebeards?) which would explain why they are so distant from the nearest non-dwarven settlements. Elves in particular would probably receive a very chilly reception there. I also wonder if they closed their doors against the forces of Angmar at the time of the fall of Arthedain, around TA 1974, preventing King Arvedui and his followers from seeking shelter there.

On the maps of Mordor I think that Khand, south-east of Mordor, should be labeled.

Feel free to borrow it. I'll have to go back and rethink some of my home-brewed material for western Eriador. For one thing, I might transfer the attitude I gave to the Lord of the Dwarf-city of Hargrod (in the southern Blue Mountains) to the Lord of the Halls of the Dwarves instead. And feel free to make use of Hargrod as well. Here is the new material I've added based on the maps from J&M:

A small number of Dwarves, mostly from Nogrod, remained in the northern Blue Mountains and established a new city near a small stream that would later become the source of the Lesser Lhûn; this colony became known as the Halls of the Dwarves (Naugroth in Sindarin; Khazad-gundu in Khuzdul).

I just wish I knew if I am on the right track.
