Another fantastic supplement. Well done all at C7. I didn't think I was going to be particularly interested in this one, but there's lots in here to be excited about. Loving the way the Dwarf cultures now have so much more depth; Grudges are brilliantly conceived; background on the goblin wars is a great inclusion. The culture specific expansion to the treasure rules was unexpected, but totally fitting and a good length. Love the idea that Gondor, say, could offer its own particular treasure rules etc. etc., but it could get too crazy if they are all long lists of qualities.
One thing I noticed--did anyone else get stuck on the third 'quality' of the Shield of Anar on p. 30. Since when can you add a blessing to famous weapons/armour? I love it as a concept, but it seems unprecedented? Don't know, I've only skimmed Erebor, but had a quick look to check in Rivendell, and I'm not seeing anything about this. Under what circumstances can you do it? And if you can add a blessing, can you add a greater blessing? Presumably magical results can still be triggered?
Still, very cool . . .

No to Greater Blessing - Yes magical results can be triggered with spent Hope as normal.

Thank you!
And with a few minutes consideration and the normal provisos (You're Middle-earth, do as you will...) I suppose there could be a particularly rare legendary magical weapon with a Greater Blessing... I would suggest that a Greater Blessing would take up "two slots" though.
Hmmm - I don't think I would have it often (if at all) because it might detract from the Magical Weapon or Armour you know, being super useful as a weapon or armour, but still.

Hi Guys,
Probably going to pick this up soon, but just wondered
The iron-clad Dwarves of the Iron Hills and the wandering Dwarves of the Grey Mountains.
Are they suitable as starting characters as one of my players would love to play a tank from the Iron Hills!!!
Though I don't want to unbalance the party, like adding a Ranger would do.
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve, they are fine as 'starting' characters, being 'balanced' with the other cultures found in the core book. The Elves and Rangers found in Rivendell are still the only exceptional cultures to this.

Hi, folks. First post here.
While I wait my PDF file (probabky tomorrow acording Nick): there's something about the passing of years in "Erebor" sourcebook? I'm writing a campaign for my table right now and using some info from "Rivendell" and "Rohan" book on what concearns that issue. Now if Dale and Lonely Mountain coming to my plot I really want to know (yes, I could wait for tomorrou but. . . nope!) if the time on TOR advances more with this new material.
Since now, thanks

Hi, Eli! Welcome to the forums. Tolkien himself covered the history of Erebor pretty thoroughly in Appendices A & B to The Lord of the Rings. Much of this history can be found at such sites as Tolkien Gateway and The Encyclopedia of Arda. Are you looking for anything specific?

Yes there's a bunch about the history of Erebor & Dale, and also about the war between the dwarves and orcs that culminated at Azanulbizar.
I'd wait 24 hours!
