Might of the Firstborn - Can you spend Hope on the roll?

Trying to win the fight without using Might of the Firstborn is a choice the Fellowship can always make. Spending Hope is also a choice. Part of the challenge for players is deciding which choices to take.

In the case of Might of the Firstborn the players will know what special ability their adversary is using and get to make a choice about whether or not to try to cancel it, at the risk of losing some Hope.
