Although it has become the standard in modern times to use the word "die" for singular, the 'proper' usage is to use "dice" for both singular and plural.

Nonetheless, still no "dices". :)

It does bring to mind the plural-plural noun "peoples", and I tried to come up with an analogous sentence with "dices" but without luck.

If you had multiple packages of dice, and there were of different kinds (say, for example, Doctor Who dice and The One Ring dice) then could you use dices in the same way that you used peoples? It doesn't sound right, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's wrong.

In older speech, the plural of person was persons. People referred to a group with a common history or heritage or culture or ancestry; more than one of these groups was peoples. Hence, the "Free Peoples."
