Same for me. That Companion is becoming something of a mythical beastOtaku-sempai wrote:For all the anticipation that exists for Oaths of the Riddermark and the Erebor book (and even for Middle-earth for D&D), I really hope that the next announcement of a pre-order is for The Adventurer's Companion.

Yup, I agree.Otaku-sempai wrote:For all the anticipation that exists for Oaths of the Riddermark and the Erebor book (and even for Middle-earth for D&D), I really hope that the next announcement of a pre-order is for The Adventurer's Companion.
We've had lots of sourcebooks and adventures, and while they have been uniformly excellent, something for the players that features more rulesy/mechanical options would be most welcome.

Poking around on the internets, I found a more up-to-date picture of Jon... I went ahead and blew it up:

Oaths of the Riddermark is what I'm expecting the most. I like to have mini-campaigns, with full fleshed adventures, like Tales of Wilderland. I must admit that Ruins of the North was a bit of a letdown for me, as they all are independent adventures that would need a lot of work to turn into an interesting and developed thematic arch.
I have the idea from some previous notes on Oaths that it is a series of linked adventures, that provide an evolving story. That's what I want for the game.
As far as mechanics and rules go, I'm more than served with what we have now. I like a lot how the core game is able to condense almost everything needed for an epic game. Darkening was released with only the rules from the Core, and I haven't seen anything better in years (well, I've NEVER seen anything better, in fact): and there are no magic items rules, or army battles, or special rules for handling horses.
To me, good adventures and stories are what make a game good or excelent, much more than brilliant rules or tons of expanded options.

I fully agree with Farenthal on this! Adventurer's companion is actually the volume I'm least excited about.Falenthal wrote:Oaths of the Riddermark is what I'm expecting the most. I'm looking forward to seeing the expanded rules on Generational play.Dunkelbrink wrote:I fully agree with Farenthal on this! Don't get me wrong: I'm excited about everything that's been announced. Only that a series of interwoven adventures is what makes me approach Middle-Earth the most. More than any rule.beckett wrote: I'm looking forward to seeing the expanded rules on Generational play.
But second in line would be Erebor and Dale for me, to complete the grandiosity of the Wilderland material.
And the elves of Lórien Culture above everything else... but that's really personal

Just wanted to share a description of the Adventurers Companion on the Miniature Market:
I was very interested to read "new combat options" can't remember if that has ever been revealed by C7 or just speculated by us....
Even the smallest person can change the course of history, even the unlikeliest character might become a hero, and every adventure begins by stepping out the door. An invaluable supplement for The One Ring Roleplaying Game, The Adventurer's Companion introduces a host of new rules - from new combat options and a new calling, the Captain, to rules for generational play and expanded rules for holdings. It also contains new heroic cultures, including the Men of Gondor, Bree-folk, and the Elves of Lorien.
One game to rule them all: TOR
