A Dúnadan's trail

Post by mQuixaba » Fri Apr 22, 2016 12:42 pm

Hello guys,

Currently, we are living the Darkening of Mirkwood's events. Our party is exactly in the year 2954, ready to cross the swamps around of Black tarn, seeking a new way to East Bight, through the Narrows of the forest. A new friend want to join us with a young and errant Dúnadan, and I'm having some trouble to find a smooth way to converge your errant trail to us. You guys, can help me with this burden?

Sorry about my bad english!
Thanks in advance!

Perhaps Durring the meeting of the White Council in 2953, Radagast has convinced Gandalf that the situation in southern Mirkwood is again growing very dire. Gandalf wishing to aid the woodmen and have eyes of his own on the forest asks the young Dúnadan to go and pledge his loyalty to the Brown Wizard and in so doing hopes to guide the young man and correct his errant ways.

Perhaps the young Dunadan's father is Arathorn/Aragorn's ambassador/spy in the region. The father asks the adventurers to take the young man under their wing to show him the world.

Alternatively the young man could have been escorting merchant who the father had asked to look after the young man. The merchant is ambushed and the Adventurers stumble upon the young man in the aftermath.

Wow, awesome ideas!

Now I think with that I am able to create something really believable and consistent for my players.
Thank you very much, Wbweather and Finrod Felagund!

Arathorn II is long dead at this time and Aragorn is wandering Eriador or Wilderland. However, someone must be acting as the interim leader of the Dúnedain until Aragorn takes his rightful place. Perhaps it is the Ranger Halbarad, later part of the Grey Company and Aragorn's standard-bearer--or even Halbarad's father as we don't know his age.
