Coming release compromise

With the TOR staff not wanting to pin down set dates and the TOR fandom's rabid desire for news I was just thinking of a compromise between the two. There is a company that is similarly attempting to create an authentic feel for a certain " steely-eyed" barbarian. They don't set hard deadlines, but provide regular updates with details such as where they are in the process, such as editing, layout, teaser art, samples of the chapters, etc...
This has eased some of the pain of waiting by shedding flashes of light in the dark.

A lot of that is to do with the fact that the aforementioned product was Kickstarted so those kind of updates are seen as required/best practise. TOR isn't in the same boat and also, likely, has to consider how it communicates the development process of a supplement as such information sharing may not be allowed under the terms of the license.

Thank you for this insight.

And as any game developer will tell you, if in the interest of keeping people happy you release some detail, and then later decide to change that detail, in however minor a way, forever after a certain subset will accuse you of lying.

I wish we could do this so much. But we can't.
