The artwork is actually ambiguous enough that it could be her hair (since her face is covered by the helm).

It's a very clever piece that allows you to see what you want.

It's the description of her character that clarifies that she is a Dwarf-woman.

Agreed. If you met "her" on the street you couldn't be sure.
