Updated Dwarven-smithing

Just got an e-mail with an updated Erebor file on Drivethrough. It had some extra detail on Dwarven-smithing, where it has become a Year's End Fellowship Undertaking.
This is all well and good, making Dwarven-smithing a task that will take years, as it should.
But when taking a permanent Shadow Point to increase Craftsmanship Points by 1 makes the Dwarf "driven". He can now only choose Dwarven-smithing in Fellowship Phases until the work is complete, or he is no longer driven. But does that mean he can choose Dwarven-smithing in other Fellowship Phases too, not just Year's End?
I clarification/errata here would be excellent.

Good question. As written, it would appear that the downside of Driven is now more dire: this is the only Undertaking you can complete, and because the Undertaking is Year's End only, if there is a Fellowship Phase not at the Year's End, you will not be able to take part in an Undertaking at all.
I feel like that's how it would work, as it wouldn't make sense to be able to tear yourself away from the forge just because it isn't Winter. But it definitely needs clarification.

Yes, it seems that the Dwarf in question will actually work in the forge in the regular Fellowship Phases too, but these do not count against the built up points. So it is dire indeed.
But anyway, a clarification from C7 would be good.

Finally got around to reading the update and I like the Dwarven-smithing rules much more now. Yes, a permanent Shadow point is a steep price, but an enchanted quality of your choice is pretty tasty.

The updated rules are a definite improvement.
My understanding is that a Driven Dwarf must spend all Felloship Phases labouring on the work, but will only roll for crafting points in Year's End phases.
A Dwarf who is not Driven would seem to be free to pursue other undertakings in Fellowship Phases that are not Year's End. Or even to spend Year's End phases not working on smithing, although this will result in no crafting points being gained that year.

I read it differently: you must use the years end fellowship phase, but only one of the actions, if two are available. For me this means that any fellowship phase during the year, not end of year, is free for other actions as well. If this was not the case the smith would not be allowed to take a different action at years end in addition to the dwarven craft action.

Yeah, this is what it says.
