Huh. I encourage narration/description when skills are used, but if the player's imagination is faltering I'm ok with just using the skill. I'd rather have that than a tired repetition of cliches. I'll grant that the example of persuading a guard is an especially poor one, but certainly I don't require the players to narrate every Stealth and Athletics check, or every preliminary roll. (There may also be a distinction between Tests and Tasks.)
Same with trait invocations. It's great when the players invoke their traits in creative ways, but sometimes saying "I'll invoke Hardy for the autosuccess" is just fine. I'd rather save table table time for when they have something interesting to contribute.
