Re: More information on "Adventures in Middle-earth"
Why wait a month before PDF? Unless the book isn't finalized (but it is as they'll have copies at Gen Con), I would think it can only benefit from players' proofreading before mass print. (Of course I also want it next week for selfish reasons, obviously )
Re: More information on "Adventures in Middle-earth"
Just to make sure, I'll be able to buy just the PDF without having to preorder the book (I like to give my local game store some support even though I run almost exclusively off my iPad) when it's released?
Re: More information on "Adventures in Middle-earth"
They say why in the statement: gathering orders is easy; delivering PDFs is hard.Ghostwriter wrote:Why wait a month before PDF?
Heh. "Audiences." Because "encounters" has a specific meaning in D&D.
Re: More information on "Adventures in Middle-earth"
I understand the delay, when Savage Rifts was released to backers (only about ~4000) it put Pinnacle's site down for a few days. This is going to be a BIG release so setting up more infrastructure is a good plan.
Re: More information on "Adventures in Middle-earth"
Will Adventures in Middle Earth allow for use of D&D monetary system of gold, silver, copper pieces etc? Guess what I am getting at will the Middle-earth appropriate arms and armor have prices. Thanks

I'd like to see the Lifestyle system carried over rather adding the almighty GP into the mix. The stories of ME have never...IMO... been about the accumulation of wealth. I'd hate to see parties in ME having mule trains carrying all the "phat" loot they have collected ala D&D. Using the system is fine, but I don't want to see all the bad tropes getting transferred as well.Mars77 wrote:Will Adventures in Middle Earth allow for use of D&D monetary system of gold, silver, copper pieces etc? Not that this is of major concern to me, but is this RPG going to be set in the era as TOR?
Re: More information on "Adventures in Middle-earth"
Meh . . .
Which, in actual fact, I'm fairly happy about as a response. With all best wishes to C7 in this endeavor, I'm totally good with TOR, and I don't see anything in this that would make me want to even investigate more about infecting the best rpg in years with the HZV that is DnD. That being said, if it means they can get their great spin on middle earth mechanics and some wonderful background material into the hands to otherwise staunch DnD enthusiasts, and maybe make a profit at the same time, then I think that's great.
A win-win for all? Too soon to call it . . . ?

Re: More information on "Adventures in Middle-earth"
I for one hope it does(use a monetary system or has the option to do so) as it is the only reason I won't play TOR and other roleplaying games that use abstract monetary systems. Sorry it is a pet peeve of mine that I can not get overBeran wrote:I'd like to see the Lifestyle system carried over rather adding the almighty GP into the mix. Posted a link to the announcement on the 5ed facebook group and got a huge response. I think this one will be big.
