I'm most excited for the Captain calling.
Definitely!Jon Hodgson wrote:More news on the Companion soon. The fact I'm saying any of these means long time followers of our progress know it's not too far away.

We have finished text for the Companion at last, and it's working it's way through layout and proofing now. Of course many a slip twixt cup and lip, as we are all used to with TOR. But it's closer than it's ever been, and my oh my there is some exciting stuff in there!
On a personal level I am a little vexed that Adventures in Middle-earth is going to get a couple of playable cultures a whisker before TOR does, but it's just the way things panned out. They were leap frogging each other back and forth in production for a long time. On the flip side, AME has done fantastic things for TOR, so I won't complain too much.

Could it be Warrior? Or Leader? Just guesses based on some of the preview stuff I've seen for AiME.Earendil wrote:*happy dance*Jon Hodgson wrote:We've renamed the Captain calling, because of some exciting other developments that needed the name "Captain" in the same volume.

Thank you, Jon!
But doesn't laying and proofing often take quite a while? Perhaps without committing to anything, you could give us an idea how long it typically takes? Like, days? Weeks? Months? I know of course that even once that's done the book won't be available immediately...
Also, can you tell us what the Captain has been renamed to? Just curious!
At a guess, "Warrior", as that's what is listed in the AiMe contents along with the other Callings as they are known in TOR. Could be Leader too as that's been mentioned.Earendil wrote:Also, can you tell us what the Captain has been renamed to? Just curious!
Damn Jon's 6 dice in Riddle. Who cares what the new calling is called--what are those "other developments" do you think? Maybe some kind of title system? Maybe tied into a revision of the reputation system?Jon Hodgson wrote:We've renamed the Captain calling, because of some exciting other developments that needed the name "Captain" in the same volume.
Dual-wielding and Istari Culture, of course.cuthalion wrote:

Maybe you can achieve a title of 'Captain' if you are a Man of Minas Tirith through Standing or some other such rule, so they didn't want to have a Calling also called Captain.Glorelendil wrote:Dual-wielding and Istari Culture, of course.cuthalion wrote:

Maybe even a revised Deadly Archery virtue.
I deserved that.Glorelendil wrote:Dual-wielding and Istari Culture, of course.cuthalion wrote:
