Pretty much the title. Books finally starting to see use apart from being my collection, as I'm going to finish up my current campaign with some friends, and transition to TOR, at long last!

The problem that has come up first is the books and the condition - perhaps I'm being overly protective of them, but I'd really, really like not to scrape pieces off the covers, like I already did with Tales of Wilderland (tiny spot but still!). So I was curious: did anyone else feel this way, and what did they end up doing to protect their books?

I mean I'm not above using basic shrinkwrap if I have to, but it'd be a bit inconvenient; and I've looked and looked for covers, but only found some site that does covers but they're kinda iffy-looking. Ideally, looking for transparent covers, of course, so as to not detract from the awesome covers!

Much less common now than when I was in school, but you should still be able to find protective textbook covers, including see-through ones. Height and width should be pretty similar, if not the same, and many are made stretchy in order to fit different thicknesses of books.

Buy two copies of each book - one for the table, one to remain forever untouched by the grubby hands of your gaming buddies!

Hardcovers that don't see heavy table use are generally sturdy enough as is. I often consider getting two copies of core rules and player books if I am running games. For The One Ring only the rulebook would fit into such category.
