G+ Hangout game

I'm thinking of running an on-line game of The One Ring in the New Year using G+ Hangouts with Dicestream.

Probably four or five players and running alternate Sunday's from 6pm to about 8 or 9pm UK time/GMT.

I've posted this on the G+ TOR Community as well.

Hi Hermes,

sounds interesting... I've replied on the G+ thread about practical arrangements to keep things in one place, but do you have any idea what sort of game you might run? I ask because I had been gearing up to run The One Ring myself (after not gaming for years - tempted back by TOR!), but if your game goes ahead and e.g. you intended to run something around the Darkening of Mirkwood when it comes out, I'd steer clear of buying it!

best regards

Stuart

I'm not sure about how you plan to use hangouts and direct the game. But sounds interesting to me and with that timetable I could join.

StuartJ, With Darkening not even on the horizon regarding pre-orders i.e. more than three months away, I guess I'l steer clear of anything that has that sort of campaign arc and simply go with adventures determined by a combination of the characters drives and interests generated during character setup.

I guess, MrNidnan, you've never used Hangouts for gaming. It's particularly good and easy to use for all but the most techno-illiterate. It requires a decent web connection (speed and reliability), a webcam and microphone. A headset with padded earphones is preferable due to the length of time involved but earbuds do work. Built-in microphones such as in a laptop are not preferable due to feedback issues often encountered with those.

I'll use GDrive for handouts and probably something like Twiddla or roll20 when maps or diagrams are needed in play.

Hehe not really. Actually I discovered roll20 recently ;)
I used to play mmos and other online games so no suchs problems with connections and headphones/speakers. Webcam broken right now but on my way to get one :P

Still seems interesting to me so if you want a playerhere from south europe let me know ^^
