Good old Legolas. Fair trait cause he's Orlando Bloom and can tell the ladies where to line up. Swift trait cause he had an easier time running to Isengard then his two companions did. Legolas was specifically noted to be able to rest while moving, so Elvish Dreams. He of course is a master archer, and has all traits related to it, including Deadly Archery (he's +11 to hit on a hope point), Wood Elf Magic (Stinging Arrow at first level lets him make any blow a piercing blow if it hits), and then Woodland Bow and Keen and Fell on the bow. Even though Stinging Arrow lets him make any hit a pierce, I figured he'd save hope points by keening the bow and getting more pierce he doesn't have to 'pay for.' He really needs more points though, as this version is incapable of defending himself in melee, and he shouldn't be. I didn't assign him the other two Wood Elf Magic powers, as we never see Legolas using Elven Lights to put people to sleep, though feel free to prove me wrong. In fact, I don't recall any elf putting people to sleep with magic, so I'm not sure where they got those powers from anyway. As an archer, I figured he'd also be a hunter, and as a prince, he'd better have at least one die of courtesy! I bumped his standard of living up a notch to represent the fact he's prince of the kingdom, so he's obviously going to have a better standard of living then joe blow elf.

For the cost of 10 xp more then 52, you can bump his sword or dagger to 3. But since the original challenge was 52 xp, the base sheet reflects that.

Aragorn...I just couldn't do this guy on 52 points. He needed more then that to display the EXTREMELY broad list of things he can do. His healing talents from Hands of the King required Healing, Song, and Craft at 3 to use well, Experienced Ranger required Explore, Hunt, and Search, Noble Lineage required Inspire. Destined for Greatness he got free because that's been passed down from Elendil->Isildur-------->Arathorn->Aragorn. Then there's Anduril. Anduril is a sword beyond all swords. This thing is expected to be able to cut the one ring from Sauron's hand and duplicate similar wounds on other Maia if one pisses Aragorn off. As such, it has damage equal to a great axe+Fell Handed+Grievous and an extra 2 used two handed, an edge equal to a keen spear and the ability to pierce like King's Blade on Hobbits with great or extraordinary success, and injury rating equal to a great axe+fell+bitter spear (26), and then an extra 4 if he uses it two handed. Further, it has the Numenorian Blade power of letting Aragon spend hope to auto pierce when he wants to. This was particularly important back when Isildur was using it to cut the one ring off. Note this means Aragorn could've and would've wounded the Balrog in Moria (at least in the books cause he had Anduril in the books, but not in the movies), because his sword is THAT powerful. If it can slice a finger off Sauron, a Balrog's not any tougher. The problem is, and Gandalf knew it, is that Aragorn didn't have armor tough enough to even begin to tank the Balrog's riposte, no matter how good it is for stealth. Anyways, Anduril is one of the only things on middle earth Sauron actually fears. I statted it accordingly.

I've been meaning to tell you how much I appreciate your going through all of this work for us & writing up these characters.

Speaking of which, I was just about to comment on your interpretation of the power of Andúril when I recalled not just the War of the Last Alliance, but also how Aragorn revealed himself & his blade to Sauron in the palantír.

So, in other words, a hearty thanks for a job well done 8-)

As one who can't wait for The Rangers to become an official Culture in the game where did you come up with the Ranger centric rewards and virtues? And how do they work?

Should Aragorn not have a higher Hunting score?

Tauriel as a Warden

Starting out with Tauriel as a beginning character, I assumed a certain amount of experience, giving her an additional 15 Experience Points and 30 Advancement Points to spend. I also assumed a Standing of 3 and gave her 2D6 (total: 7) Treasure Points for unspent Treasure.

Standing: 3

BACKGROUND: Envoy of the King. Your parents were killed by Orcs when you were still small. You were raised in the Halls of the Elvenking and (despite being female) rose to the position of Captain of the Royal Guard. As such, you have learned much about the nearby communities of Men and Dwarves. Sadly, you have also discovered how the Shadow is creeping upon the outside world gaining in strength with each passing year. You find it more and more difficult to agree with King Thranduil's isolationist policies. Are you not a part of this world?

NOTE: Tauriel is 600 years old.

New Weapon: Mirkwood Fighting Knives. Usually crafted in pairs, these exceptionally well-balanced blades are meant to be wielded in a two-weapon fighting style, similar to the Lake-men's Cultural Virtue of Shield-Fighting. if you get a "G" on the Feat die when attacking with an Elven Fighting Knife, you inflict double the normal Damage (3 + 3 = 6).
- Damage: 3
- Edge: "G"
- Injury: 12
- Encumberance: 0
- Group: Daggers

New Cultural Virtue - Mirkwood Elves: Two-Weapon Fighting. If you are fighting with two weapons, both must be one-handed weapons. The secondary weapon cannot be larger than a short sword* or larger than your primary weapon. When you successfully hit an enemy roll the Feat die again: on a role of 8+ you inflict an additional loss of Endurance equal to your Damage rating plus the Damage value of your secondary weapon. Your secondary weapon can be used to defend as if you were using a buckler (for a dagger) or as a shield (for any other weapon).

* Secondary weapons are limited to: dagger, short sword, axe or club.

There is a pdf here specifically for Dunedain of the North. Dunno about you guys, but it looks pretty official to me. Thus, Aragorn's abilities (Cause he ran the table on Dunedain virtues)

That document is a fan made culture. I forget who made the original, but I think Rich H tweaked some of it

I did, although that's not my version. I tweaked some of it and added more information. Also, improved the names of the Backgrounds, making them more evocative - things like The Watchful Rest, By Paths That Are Seldom Trodden, etc; rather than the rather dry names of the original document.

I laughed hard at some of the typos, though...

His hands were masculine but delicate, and he had //suck// skills with herbs and medicine that anyone he treated would recover twice as fast.

Apparently Rangers like flippin' on the Marvin Gaye while healing people. ;)

Thanks, but does anyone know where you to DL the file without having to install a bunch of stuff?
